I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Hello, I am Carolyn Akens, and I am so glad you stopped by!
When you shop with me, you support a business that genuinely cares about its customers. Healthy eating is my top priority, whether it's savory or sweet!
As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a mother, a grandmother, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, a baker, a Master Raw Food Chef, and a published author, I have learned over the years that what we put into our bodies can greatly affect our health.
As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I emphasize the importance of maintaining good gut health, as many diseases originate in the gut. Often, we attribute health problems to heredity based on what we have been told, but frequently, these issues stem from the abundance of processed foods labeled as "healthy." Supermarket shelves are filled with bread made from refined grains, treated with glyphosate, and containing other harmful ingredients disguised by marketing tactics. However, grains are a gift from God created for our consumption. The best way to preserve their nutrients is by stone-milling them into flour while keeping them intact, just as God designed.
I personally grind the grains into flour and use only four to six easily recognizable and gut-friendly ingredients. I mill the flour the day that I will bake, ensuring that you receive all the nutrients from the Bran, Germ, and Endosperm.
Bran is the hard outer layer of a kernel, which contains the majority of its fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The bran also helps maintain healthy blood sugar. The Germ is the part that sprouts into a new plant, providing essential vitamins, healthy fats, and other nutrients. The germ also supports cardiovascular health, and the immune system. Finally, the Endosperm serves as the energy supply for the seed. It contains complex carbohydrates and protein, plus small amounts of B vitamins and minerals.
Choosing whole-grain foods is an excellent way to maintain a healthy, nutritious lifestyle, and a rich source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients.
Incorporating whole-grain foods into your diet can help regulate cholesterol levels, manage weight, and control blood pressure. Additionally, these foods may reduce the risk of developing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and other related health problems, as suggested by the Mayo Clinic.
